“Like my Mother Does”
People always say
I have a laugh
Like my mother
does
Guess that makes
sense
She taught me how
to smile
When things get
rough
I've got her
spirit
She’s always got
my back
When I look at her
I think, I want to
be just like that
When I love I give
it all I've got
Like my mother
does
When I’m scared, I
bow my head and pray
Like my mother
does
She sees everyone
For who they
really are
I’m so thankful
for her guidance
She helped me get
this far
My mom and I have always been
really close and yes, we have had our ups and downs. As I've grown up, people always
look at me and say, “Yup, you are your mother’s daughter, you act just like
her.” People say that to me fairly often. When I was little, I never thought
anything of it and quite frankly thought it was annoying. At that time, I didn't
understand, but now that I’m older, I am thankful when people say, “You are
just like your mother.”
The lyrics of this song describe
our relationship perfectly. Just like the song says, “She taught me how to
smile when things get rough,” my mom has definitely done that. We have been
through a lot together and she’s always the one saying, everything will be OK
even when she knows it might not be. She has shown me how to be strong and how
to keep moving even when times are tough. My mom is my number one supporter and
she’s been there for me no matter what and she always will be. She’s basically
my cheerleader and has never left my side.
I wouldn't be who I am today
without her love and guidance. It has helped shape me into the person I am
today. She has taught me all about faith and just like the song says, “When I’m
scared, I bow my head and pray, like my mother does.” I do exactly that because
I grew up watching my mom do that. She is one of the strongest people I know
and I’m grateful for her loving spirit. She taught me how to laugh and to
always keep smiling.
As I grew up I looked up to my
mom. I thought she was the best mom ever and she is. She has taught me more
things about life than everyone else has. The part in the song where the lyrics
say, “When I look at her, I think, I want to be just like that.” I think of that
all the time. Now when people say to me, “You are just like your mother,” I won’t
get annoyed, but I’ll be thankful to hear that.
I love this song! I am told the same thing, not only because of the way I act, but my appearance reflects how my mom looked at my age. I too was always annoyed with hearing it constantly, but as we grow older it is such an amazing compliment!
ReplyDeleteYes! I know, I always get told I have thick hair like my mom does! But I agree, its definitely a compliment now!
